saying goodbye to my childhood home

Today I helped my Mom pack up my childhood home into a POD.  A place, the only place that I truly get a good nights sleep. This is the place that I grew-up too fast and the home I couldn't wait to get out of. Now, I don't want to leave. I want to stay forever listening to the sounds of my Mom bounding up and down the hardwood stairs. The gentle breeze of the oak and maple trees in the summer, the familiar smell of walking into the house through the garage door.  I think I will miss that smell the most.
You see, you can't smell a picture or a video.
I will just have to take a big breath in tomorrow evening before I step out the door forever.

I wonder if this house will miss us too? After all we have lived here for 20 some years...we are the only people this house knew. Tomorrow will be new dreams, new places, new memories. Leaving this house means that my family will be together again and hopefully this familiar smell is really my Mom's love.

Goodbye Lost Creek Court. Life was better because you were a part of it.

Technology working together

Hi Friends! Hopefully this will make keeping up with my blog easier. I will admit it, I am a facebook junkie so I love the fact that I can now post to my blog from here. Yippee!!

time waits for no one

Saying I have been busy would be an understatement.   Work has been keeping me on my toes...in early (which is so hard for me.)  I have had company here every weekend for the last month.  I prepared for and ran the Monument Ave 10K.  I have been working on stocking up art projects and organizing the Richmond Sampler, still doing South Beach, and preparing for a possible early fall move (details to come later.)  In the midst of all that, I adopted a cutie pie pup this weekend.  Ms. Bella-boo, a yorkie poo with Southern personality.

Now that the days are longer, I am hoping to get everything accomplished!  I am a spring/summer girl for sure.  I love, love, love the sun and warmth on my skin.  It chases away all those winter blues and makes me crave fresh veggies, exercise, and laughter.  I even bought a baton this weekend.  ;)

a visual feast

that is how I would describe this weekend.  I really explored my creative side and started and FINISHED several new projects.  Let's see...

jenypenny.etsy.com is finally branded!  New logo, business cards, and other goodies.

I am working on new projects for my etsy shop and beyond.  A few weeks ago, my mom gave me a bunch of my grandmothers old jewelry.  I have spent this weekend shopping around several jewelry stores, Fandangle being my MOST FAVORITE.  Then putting all my new findings to good use. I am having a blast re-fashioning these vintage pieces.

all I want is cake and other ramblings

So, I made it to the end of day three with out any CHEATING.  I must say I am super proud of myself.  The past two days at my office there have been two GIANT sheet cakes with luscious white icing...the smell has driven me to chew about 6 pieces of sugar free gum.  I just don't understand how something that delicious smelling can be so bad.  Boooo!  I rewarded myself tonight by going to Target and buying a brand new digital scale and when I got home...that scale told me I have lost one pound.  I will try again in the morning.

In all honesty, "South Beach" does let you eat some pretty awesome food and make you more aware of the crazy amounts of sugar in everything.  I can see why it is a lifestyle change for so many people.  I think these good habits will stick with me forever.  Again, I must mention how very blessed I am to have such supportive people in my life.

Ok....I got a few new kits in the past few days and I have been busy dreaming up new projects.  I love the inspiration of color right now.  I honestly feel hungry for it.  The first kit is from Scrap in Style TV and it was called, "Kitchy, Kitchy, Koo."  I think it is sold out.  It was a cool bunch of vintage findings and then that really cool houndstooth gaffers tape you see in the project.  I also finally, finally got the bind-it all machine and I have been having a blast making minis out of anything I can find.  I really am a mini girl I have a HUGE basket of them in my living room. Newest mini book below, "Good Times."  (Click to enlarge image.)

I was also excited to see the the winner of my OWOH giveaway received her painting.  It was a nice experience to make someones day a little brighter.  Lastly, I leave you with this question.

What is your favorite word recently?  My has been delicious.  LOL!  I guess I have food on the brain.  I am currently working on a project inspired by illustration Friday based on words.

be well.

day one down & a cool quad meme

I am concluding my first day on South Beach.  Go me!  I vow to stick with Phase 1 for three weeks.  So far the food is good, but preparation is taking me a bit of time.  This is my first day in a really long time with no carbs or sugar.  I don't feel deprived.  I have the typical diet mentality already and that worries me.  I am already thinking about all the things that I am missing but, I am lucky to have so much support around to assist me in being successful.  I am posting my starting photo (UGH!  So hard to look at.)  I will try post a new photo every single Sunday.  Get used to this outfit!

a really good weekend

I was so lucky this weekend.  Not only was it a three day weekend which meant *NO WORK* on Monday, but my little sister came to visit.  We spent a lot of time laughing...pretty much what we do best.  This post is mostly pictures.  1.  My new shoes from Target.  2.  More new shoes.  3.  One World, One Heart packages ready to ship.  4.  Me & my sister at the Richmond Wine Expo.

In the coming days I will be sharing some new goals.
1.  Photos of my new art room.
2.  I am starting South Beach on Monday.
3. A photo a day.  I would like to work on my photography since my really good pictures happen only once in a blue moon...perhaps on accident.

Be well.
